Officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) recovered 64,500 euros, valued around Rs 50.75 lakh in Indian currency, from a passenger, who was boarding a flight to Dubai from the Chandigarh international airport at Mohali here on Monday.

The passenger has been identified as Nawanshahr-based Navjeet Singh (37).

The euros were concealed beneath a newspaper at the bottom of a bag of Navjeet Singh. Acting on a tip-off, the DRI officials checked his bag and recovered the foreign currency.

According to sources, Navjeet, who works as a salesman in a chemist shop at Nawanshahr, was to deliver the currency to somebody in Dubai.
