Man hangs himself to death

Patiala, October 22

A 29-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday here. The deceased has been identified as Gurpreet Verma (29), a resident of Gobindgarh.

According to the police, Verma had an altercation with his wife on Sunday after which he went to his room and slept. His family members found him hanging from the ceiling fan on Monday morning. They informed the police about the incident.

Rajesh Malhotra, SHO, Tripuri, said: “We have registered a case on the statement of the deceased’s family members. We are investigating the matter.”

The police have registered a case under Section 174 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The deceased is survived by his 

wife and a two-and-a-half-year-old son.
