Kharar: An unidentified man was found lying on the railway track in a serious condition on Tuesday. He has been admitted to the PGI, Chandigarh. ASI Manohar Lal, in-charge, Railway police post, Kharar, said the driver of a train informed the police that a man was lying dead on the railway track. However, on examination the police found that he was alive. The victim was taken to a hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh, from where he was referred to the PGI. The ASI said the man is still unconscious and is yet to be identified. OC

Elderly man ends life

Zirakpur: A 60-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan at Baltana here on Wednesday. The victim has been identified as Vaid Parkash, a resident of Gobind Vihar, Baltana. The police said the incident took place on Wednesday when the victim was at his shop. No suicide note was recovered from the spot. During preliminary investigations, it has come to fore that the victim was under stress and  might have taken the extreme step due to depression.  OC
