Man found murdered in Sector 52, hotel cook held

A 28-year-old youth, working as a cook at a hotel in Sector 35, has been arrested by the police for murdering a man after taking liquor with him on the night of November 21.

The police received information today about a person lying unconscious at Tin Colony, Sector 52, following which a PCR vehicle rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where doctors declared him brought dead.

A police team, meanwhile, reached the spot and initiated an investigation. A murder case against unknown person was registered at the Sector 36 police station.

During the investigation, the police learnt that the victim, identified as Bangala (55), who was an employee at Hotel Maya Palace, Kajehri village, had taken liquor with Vipin Singh, a cook at Hotel Peddler, Sector 35.

A team, led by Inspector Ranjodh Singh, SHO of the Sector 36 police station, apprehended Vipin, who revealed that the owner of the hotel where he worked had sent him to Hotel Maya Palace to collect cash on Thursday night. Vipin met the victim there and duo made a plan to take liquor. They first took liquor at Hotel Maya Palace and then went to purchase more liquor from a liquor vend in Sector 52.

The duo entered into an argument over some issue following which Vipin hit the victim with a stone on his head. The victim was seriously injured after which Vipin escaped from the spot.
