Man duped of Rs1.30 lakh in debit card fraud

MOHALI: A resident of Mohali, who fell victim to a fraud of debit card cloning, losing Rs 1,30,000, has lodged a complaint with the cyber cell.

A resident of Mohali, who fell victim to a fraud of debit card cloning, losing Rs 1,30,000, has lodged a complaint with the cyber cell. According to the complainant, Vinod Kumar, he was duped of Rs 1,30,000, which was withdrawn using a duplicate of his Canara Bank ATM card.

Vinod Kumar stated that he had earlier submitted a complaint at a police station in the Industrial Area but the police did not investigate after registering a DDR.

The fraud came to light when Vinod Kumar received a text message on his mobile phone that Rs 1,30,000 had been withdrawn from his account. The conman had purchased jewellery worth Rs 90,000 from a shop in Bulanshahr, Uttar Pradesh, and withdrawn Rs 30,000 and Rs 10,000 in cash in two transactions from an ATM. — TNS
