Man dies as tree falls on him in Ambala

AMBALA: A 33-year-old man was killed after a tree fell on him near Government Railway Police Station in Ambala Cantonment late last night.

A 33-year-old man was killed after a tree fell on him near Government Railway Police Station in Ambala Cantonment late last night.

The deceased has been identified as Sushil Kumar, a resident of Rattangarh village.

Sushil used to work as a security guard with a private bank in Ambala Cantonment and was on his way home on a motorcycle when the incident occurred.

The tree had caught fire. Around 10 pm, all of a sudden, it fell on him. Sushil died on the spot.

Officials of the GRP and the Parao police station reached the spot. A fire engine was pressed into service to douse the fire. A crane was also used to remove the tree from the service lane of the national highway.

The in-charge of the Lal Kurti police station said, “The body was handed over to the family today after a postmortem at the Civil Hospital, Ambala Cantonment. The exact reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained and the matter is being investigated.” — TNS
