Zirakpur, August 14

The post-mortem report of Hardeep Singh (27), a resident of Barnala, whose decomposed body was found in a car parked on the roadside on the Chandigarh-Ambala stretch here yesterday, suggested that he died due to suffocation.

The autopsy was conducted at the Civil Hospital, Dera Bassi. The doctor, who conducted the autopsy, said Hardeep died probably due to lack of oxygen as well as inhaling carbon monoxide fumes emanating from the exhaust. “We have sent viscera of the deceased to a laboratory in Kharar to help us determine the exact cause of death,” said a doctor.

Hardeep kept the ignition on and the air-conditioner running. The police said the Hardeep might have dozed off in an inebriated state and died due to suffocation. — OC
