The police on Sunday booked a person for allegedly attacking his co-worker with a glass bottle in a factory here.

The victim has been identified as Rocky Saini, 25, a native of Yamunanagar. Rocky, who is presently living in Mani Majra, works as a machine operator at a private factory in the Industrial Area, Phase I, here.

The police said he was reportedly attacked by his co-worker Ranjit Singh when he tried to stop a fight between Ranjit and Shiv Shankar during the night shift on Friday over filling a water bottle from a water cooler.

The police said the victim in his complaint alleged that Ranjit and Shiv Shankar were fighting. When he intervened, Ranjit started thrashing him and later attacked him with a glass bottle.

“First, the accused hit Saini with an iron rod and then with a glass bottle on his head and later stabbed the same broken bottle into his stomach. His statement was recorded on Sunday as he was unfit earlier,” said an investigating official.

He was rushed to the General Hospital, Sector 6, from where he was referred to the GMCH-32. On the basis of the complaint and medical reports, a case was registered under Sections 323 and 326 of the IPC at the Sector 20 police station. — TNS
