Chandigarh, May 17

A local court today held a Ludhiana resident guilty in an attempt-to-murder case. The court acquitted two others for want of evidence. The quantum of punishment will be pronounced on May 20.

According to the prosecution, head constable Kailash saw two or three boys quarrelling with a bouncer near the parking of Buzz Disc in Sector 17 around 2 am on January 18, 2015.

In the meantime, he heard gunshots and rushed to the spot. He saw a boy holding a revolver in his right hand. The cop tried to nab the boy, but he managed to fire at Rahul, a bouncer, on his left foot. The boy escaped from the spot, but he was caught near the parking of Taj Hotel.

The boy was identified as Nitin Jethi of Ludhiana.

The other two boys — Sherry and Mansimran — accompanying Nitin escaped from spot in a Swift car. Later, they were arrested by the police.

A case was registered against Nitin Jethi, Sherry and Mansimran. After the arguments, the court held Nitin Jethi guilty and acquitted Sherry and Mansimran for the want of evidence in the case. — TNS
