The Election Department will hold special camps on February 23 and 24 to facilitate all unregistered but eligible voters to get their names registered in the electoral rolls. Besides, correction in names and addresses of registered voters will also be done.

The camps are being held to ensure that correct and updated information was added in each voter’s electoral photo identity card (EPIC) and no eligible voter is deprived of voting right during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Meanwhile, meetings under the chairmanship of Mandip Singh Brar, Additional Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, UT, were held today with the representatives of political parties, in charges of cinema halls and cable operators in the city. The agenda was to enlighten the gathering about the special camps.

The in charges of cinema halls and cable operators were asked to play slides/strips during screening of movies and prime time shows so that maximum people could know about the special camps.

Brar said, “Booth-level officers (BLOs) will be present during the camps with the copies of final electoral rolls of 2019. A copy of the electoral rolls will be available at all polling stations for voters to check their names in it. In addition, the electoral rolls shall also be read out publically during the camp to facilitate illiterate voters. EPIC holders have been requested to check their names in electoral rolls and fill Form 6 if their names do not exist in the electoral rolls.”
