Panchkula, December 4

The crime branch of the Panchkula police today arrested Mohit, cousin of Lovely, who was allegedly involved in the killing of her mother Rajbala and the latter’s three grandchildren at Khatauli village near Barwala on November 16.

CIA Inspector Aman Kumar said Mohit was also involved in the murder of Sudha, daughter-in-law of Rajbala, two years ago. Mohit, along with his father Suresh Pal, Rajbala’s daughter Lovely and her husband Ram Kumar, had strangled Sudha on December 1, 2016.

After killing Sudha, they had burnt her body in a heap of paddy residue and later immersed her remains in the Markandey river near Shahbad. Mohit had also removed the earrings of the victim after killing her.

Aman Kumar said Mohit was produced before a court, which remanded him in two-day police custody. The other two accused, Ram Kumar and Suresh Pal, were also produced before the court, which remanded them in judicial custody.

Mohit was involved in the murder of Rajbala and her three grandchildren — Aishwarya (18), Divyanshu (16), and Ayush (12)  — at their house on November 16.

Lovely had revealed to the police that Mohit was nursing a grudge against his aunt Rajbala as the latter, instead of giving land to him for tilling, gave it to some other persons. She had told the police that she lured Mohit into the crime by assuring him that he would get Rs 50 lakh.
