Chandigarh:  Local grapplers bagged four medals in the recently concluded U-15 National Wrestling Championship, at Kota (Rajasthan). Bobby won the freestyle category silver medal in 75kg category, while Sachin and Deepanshu bagged bronze medals each in the 68kg and 48kg categories, respectively, in teh same event. In the Greco Roman event, Sumit claimed the silver medal in the 62kg category.  TNS

Gauri wins shooting gold 

Chandigarh:  Local shooter Gauri Sheoran won two gold medals in the 25m women’s sports pistol event during the KSS National Shooting Championship in New Delhi. She claimed gold medal each in individual and team event.TNS

Kamal elected CVA president 

Chandigarh: Kamal Sharma, former BJP Punjab state head,  has been re-elected as president of the Chandigarh Volleyball Association (CVA) today. Anil Yadav has been elected as honorary secretary of the association by its general house for the next four years. Kuldeep Mangotra, Naib Singh and LNS Thakur attended the meeting as observers of Volleyball Federation of India, UT Sports Department and Chandigarh Olympic Association, respectively. TNS

Mou signed for promoting golf 

Mohali: Forest Hill Resorts signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Golf Academy Castle Sports here today. According to the MoU Castle Sports will look after the training of budding golfers of the region. In order to promote the sport, free play for children Under 18 years has already been announced for the next three months along with children tournaments and monthly medal rounds. TNS

BD defeat E- Clerx for title 

Chandigarh: BD defeated E- Clerx by three runs to win the Corporate Cricket Festival. Batting first, BD posted 63/6 in allotted six overs with the help of Amrit (21). Vikas and Vinit claimed a wicket each. In reply, E Clerx posted 60/5. Gaurav (15) and Ajay (12) were the two main scorers. Amit, Harvinder claimed a wicket each. TNS
