Learn lessons from floods: MLA

MLA Kanwar Sandhu said a lesson should be learnt from the recent floods in New Chandigarh area of the Kharar constituency while addressing the media here today.

Earlier, he met the Mohali DC and gave him a letter regarding this. He said the New Chandigarh Township plan be revisited through physical verification, aerial survey and satellite image. He said that this was important as this area when complete would house more than 50,000 persons.

He said check dams constructed in the foothills should also be revisited and desilting of these check dams should be done every three years. — OC
