Commuters had a tough time throughout the day at the Sector 28-29-31-32 roundabout after a water pipeline leaked here on Saturday.

While it took more than 8 hours for the Municipal Corporation to repair the leakage in the pipeline, the roundabout witnessed a huge traffic jam.

Commuters said long queues of vehicles were seen on both sides of the road leading to the GMCH-32. They faced great hardships and surprisingly no traffic cop could be seen manning the traffic, which remained clogged for almost the entire day.

An officer of the MC’s public health wing said the leakage was noticed after some sectors faced low water supply in the morning.

During checking, it was found that pipe was leaking at the GMCH-32 roundabout. The MC engaged a contractor for the repair work.

Harishankar Mishra, the contractor who carried out the repair work, said there was a leakage in the main pipeline connecting Sector 32 waterworks with Sector 26 waterworks. It also damaged a portion of the roundabout. The repair work started in the morning and was completed by 6 pm.

Rajan Kumar, a resident of Sector 32, said it was a nightmare to cross the road on Saturday. He said there no cop was present there to manage the traffic.
