Dera Bassi, February 18

The police will book those who fail to get the verification of their tenants done. The decision has come in the aftermath of an encounter at Peer Muchalla, Zirakpur, a few days ago. Gangster Ankit Bhadoo was killed in the attack.

The information was given by Mohali SSP Harcharan Singh Bhullar during a police-public meeting at Dera Bassi today. “The violation of the orders is a punishable offence under Section 188 of the IPC,” said SSP, Harcharan Singh Bhullar. Bhullar stressed on the role of community policing in checking the rising crime.

The SSP has directed the SHOs concerned to hold meetings with representatives of resident welfare associations (RWAs) in Dera Bassi subdivision. He advised RWAs and city residents to install high resolution CCTV cameras at the entry and exist points of their societies.

He asked city residents to display a list of emergency numbers at the entrance to their societies. During the meeting, residents raised several issues such as traffic congestion in Zirakpur, underage driving and encroachments.
