Lakshya Gupta stunned top seed Rishi Dahiya to enter boys’ U-16 final in the ongoing Roots-AITA Tennis Championship here on Wednesday. 

Gupta won the opening set 6-0, but Dahiya drew level with a 6-4 win in the second set. Gupta though seized the decider 6-4 to set up the title clash with Rajan Kumar, who registered a 6-4 7-5 win over Sannat Goel in the semis.

Gupta also moved into the boys’ U-14 semifinals after ousting Praneel Sharma 6-0 6-3 in the quarterfinals. 

Kanvarpreet Singh registered a 6-2 7-6(3) win over Gurbaaz Singh, while Umang Singh downed Aryan Jolly 6-4 6-1. 

In the boys’ U-16 doubles quartefinals, top seed pair of Dhairya Chadha and Lakshya Gupta defeated Aryan and Dhruv Pratap 6-4 6-4, while second seeds Rishi Dahiya and Sannat Goel packed off Anuj Pal and Praneel Sharma 6-1 6-2. Gurpuneet Singh and Sankalp downed Priyanshu and Lavanya 6-2 6-4.
