Khattar’s Rs 234-crore infra boost for Panchkula dist

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today unfolded a Rs 234-crore development package for Panchkula district, including upgrade of basic amenities such as road infrastructure, bridges and public health services.

Khattar announced the package for the district after laying the foundation stones of nine projects worth Rs 85.03 crore at Tau Devi Lal Stadium.

Khattar said development works of Rs 2,000 crore for Panchkula and Rs 700 crore for Kalka had either been completed or were in progress. For the Panchkula Assembly segment, he announced Rs 5 crore for Ashiana Flats, Rs 10 crore for the expansion of an old age home, Rs 8 crore for a district-level digital library and Rs 10 crore for covering a drain at the Mansa Devi Complex, Sector 5.

Besides, he also announced development works worth Rs 35 crore for rural areas of the district, including a bridge on a river from Khatoli to Alipur, a Primary Health Centre at Rattewali, Mouli road at Bator and roads from Nayagaon to Natwal, Sundarpur to Rampur, Tibbi to Bunga, Banawal to Raseedpur, Billa to Jaswantgarh, Chhoti Chowki to Badi Chowki and Khangesra to Jaswantgarh.

For the Kalka Assembly segment, he announced the upgrade the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kalka to a 50-bed hospital, a 20-bed CHC at Pinjore, upgrade of the Nanakpur PHC to a CHC, a bridge from Issarnagar to Bakshiwala costing Rs 8 crore, a bridge from Pinjore Mallah Road to Berghati costing Rs 6 crore, Rs 20 crore for Kalka city and Rs 21 crore for eight roads in rural areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain said during the tenure of the previous state government, only Rs 10 crore was spent in villages whereas Rs 218 crore had been spent during the past four years. Ambala MP Rattan Lal Kataria and MLAs Gian Chand Gupta and Latika Sharma also spoke on the occasion.
