Karnal woman duped of gold jewellery on bus

Zirakpur, October 31

A middle-aged woman was duped of her gold ornaments by three unidentified women on a bus here today. The matter was reported to the police.

The victim, Surinder Kumari, a resident of Ram Nagar in Karnal, lodged a complaint with the police stating that she arrived at the Zirakpur bus stand near Singhpura village from Karnal today. She wanted to go to Panchkula to see one of her relatives and boarded a local bus from the Zirakpur bus stand. While she was sitting in the bus, three unidentified women, who were already sitting in the bus, distracted her attention and made her smell something.

The victim alleged that when she regained consciousness, she found her two gold bangles and a pair of gold earrings missing. Realising that she had been duped by the women, she approached the Zirakpur police with a written complaint.

The police said the victim failed to provide more description about the incident or the bus number. The police have asked the victim to come to the police station again tomorrow with more details in case she is able to recollect so that they can carry out the investigation properly. — OC
