Panjab University Campus Students’ Council president Kanupriya condemned the profiling of Kashmiri students on the campus.

“The PU authorities are creating an environment of suspicion and constant surveillance. Collecting information on the pretext that Kashmir is a disturbed area is wrong. Politically, there are many disturbed areas in India where people are fighting for their democratic rights,” she said.

“It is only a political dialogue that can create an environment of mutual trust to resolve the political crisis. Showing intellectual bankruptcy, the PU authorities failed to understand that political problems cannot be handled by such mean measures, which instead of solving the problem, aggravate it,” she added.

The Students for Society said “such politically and socially notoriously incorrect decision would alienate Kashmiri students and make them most vulnerable”.

“Instead of creating an inclusive environment, the PU authorities have chosen to ostracize our own Kashmiri students. The Students for Society strongly condemns this discriminating and demonising decision and demands immediate withdrawal of the notice,” said Harman Deep, a leader of the Students for Society .
