Two persons, including a juvenile, have been arrested for assaulting and kidnapping a Sector 44 resident over an old enmity.

The victim, Harsh Goyal, was allegedly kidnapped in a car at Sector 34 and was assaulted before being abandoned near the Sector 43/44 light point on Monday night.

The police said while one of the suspects, identified as Piyush Sharma, would be produced in court tomorrow, the juvenile was sent to the Juvenile Home in Sector 25.

Other assailants, identified as Rajat Tiwari, Harpreet Singh, Yogi and Chetan, are yet to be arrested.

Sources said at the time of kidnapping, Harsh was accompanied by his friend Vikram Singh, son of a head constable of the UT police. Vikram had informed the Police Control Room about the kidnapping.

Police sources said the victim and one of the suspects, Rajat, had a fight in the past on an issue pertaining to a woman, who was known to both of them. The matter was later resolved.

Sources said on Monday, Rajat and his associates attacked Harsh to settle the old score. The assailants came in Punto and Swift Dzire cars, which were seized by cops. The Punto belongs to Piyush and Swift to Rajat.

The police said the victim and his friend had gone to Kharar on a motorcycle. On returning, the duo went to Sector 34 where the victim’s motorcycle was parked. The suspects reached there and kidnapped the victim in one of the cars.

A case has been registered at the Sector 34 police station.
