Irked over being removed from a WhatsApp group, three people allegedly assaulted the admin of the group. The suspects have been identified as Pawan Kumar, Sujit Ram of Patran town and Joginder Singh of Shutrana block of the district.
Victim Sunil Kumar was beaten around 7 pm on Tuesday evening at his office in Patran after he removed the trio from “Car Dealer Association” group on WhatsApp.
The Patiala Police have booked the suspects under Sections 451, 323 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the complainant, he had removed a few people from the WhatsApp group on Monday for for sharing irrelevant information.
He said, “They were posting religious and personal posts. Other members of the group had objected to the posts. After repeated reminders, I had to remove them.”
The complainant further said the WhatsApp group was only for sharing cars related information, but the trio had posted religious posts which had hurt sentiments of other members.
Patran Station House Officer said, “A case has been already registered against the suspects. It is not a big issue. Such things happen here in Patran.” — TNS
