Inter-school championships to start from August 1: Edu Dept

The UT Education Department will host the annual inter-school championships from August 1. The department will organise U-14 competitions (boys and girls) in badminton, ball-badminton, baseball, chess, cricket, fencing, gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic) netball, squash (U-14, U-17, U-19) and table tennis from August 1. Interested teams can submit their entries before July 23 at the sports branch of the Sector 19 District Education Office (DEO). 

From August 23, competitions in badminton (U-19), basketball (U-14), baseball (U-14, U-17, U-19), boxing (U-19), chess (U-19), cricket (U-19), fencing (U-17,U-19), football (U-14),handball (U-14, U-17), kabaddi (boys U-17 and girls U-17), kho-kho (girls U-14, boys U-17), roller-hockey (boys U-19), skating (U-11, U-14, U-17, U-19), swimming (U-14, U-17, U-19), table tennis (U-17, U-19), taekwondo (U-14, U-17, U-19), volleyball (U-14), wrestling (U-14, U-17, U-19 freestyle) and (boys U-17 and U-19 Greco-roman) for boys and girls. Interested teams can confirm their entries before August 17. 

Competitions in badminton (U-17), ball-badminton (U-19), basketball (U-17), cricket (boys U-17), cycling (U-14, U-17, U-19), football (U-17), gymnastics (U-17, U-19), kabaddi (boys U-14, girls U-14),  tennis (U-14, U-17), netball (U-19), shooting (U-14, U-17, U-19), softball (U-14, U-17), volleyball (U-17) and weightlifting (U-17, U-19) will begin from October 3. The teams can confirm their entries before September 19.

From October 26, events in archery (U-14, U-17, U-19), ball badminton ( U-17),  basketball (U-19), boxing ( boys U-14,  boys and girls U-17), kho-kho (girls U-17 and boys U-19), netball (U-17), tennis (U-19), softball (U-19), volleyball (U-19), yoga (U-14, U-17, U-19) will be organised. The entries will be accepted before October 22.  The annual athletics meet is scheduled to be held in the last week of November. Interested participants can confirm their entries in the third week of November with the organisers. Players born on or after January 1, 2008 will be eligible to participate in the U-11 category, while those born on or after January 1, 2005 will be eligible for the U-14 category. For participating in the U-17 category, a player should be born on or after January 1, 2002. For the U-19 events, the players should be born on or after January 1, 2000. A player can participate in the same age-group for a maximum of three years.

Eligibility

Players born on or after January 1, 2008 will be eligible to participate in the U-11 category, while those born on or after January 1, 2005 will be eligible for the U-14 category. For participating in the U-17 category, a player should be born on or after January 1, 2002. For the U-19 events, the players should be born on or after January 1, 2000. A player can participate in the same age-group for a maximum of three years.
