The University Institute of Fashion Technology and Vocational Development (UIFT & VD), PU, hosted the first of its kind international fashion symposium, a mega event on Exposure: Fashion-Technology- Business.

Dr Alka Pande, Curator, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, spoke on art as the soul of fashion.

Her keynote address included images of the ancient Indian civilisations. She explained how minimalism was not a part of Indian culture and everything including colours, jewellery, gold was celebrated.

Prof Arun Grover, vice-chancellor, PU, and patron-in-chief of the International Symposium, advised the fashion students to think big. “This is the fourth oldest University in India and we can come up with a cluster of creative departments such as fashion, fine arts, journalism, music and others so that more international and national experts are heard by students more often.”

Designer Varun Rehani guided students on how to start their own brand and the areas to look out for and challenges which one should look out for.
