Ahead of Diwali, city hospitals have geared up to provide emergency services to tackle any emergency.

While Government Multi-Speciality Hospital in Sector 16 conducted a special meeting to check the preparedness of emergency services, the authorities of the Government Medical College Sector and Hospital (GMCH) in Sector 32 has filled the necessary sock of medicines for the treatment of burn patients.

The PGI has also made necessary arrangement at the Advanced Trauma Centre to tackle the patients arriving from others states.

Dr G Dewan, Deputy Medical Superintendent, GMSH 16 said, “A high alert has been sounded and special arrangements have been made to provide round-the-clock treatment to patients pre and post Diwali.”

“It was decided that the Eye Department will remain open in the New OPD. Further, eye surgeons will also be available on call. General and other injuries will be addressed in the emergency. Sufficient stocks of medicine have been made available for the treatment of eye and other injuries,” said Dr Dewan.

Dr Ravi Gupta, Medical Superintendent, GMCH 32, said a special meeting was held to the check the availability of drugs at the emergency ward in the wake of Diwali. At the PGI, the authorities have put doctors on special emergency duty to attend the patients.

Disaster call

The GMCH 32 and GMSH 16 authorities have provided the option of disaster call. In case of any major incident, a disaster call will be sounded and all doctors, irrespective of their holiday, will have to report on duty.
