Chandigarh, August 23

The City Beautiful has been awarded with four national-level awards by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi, for exemplary performance and successful implementation of the Poshan Abhiyaan. The Ministry of Women and Child Development today organised the incentive-based awards ceremony at Hotel Ashok, New Delhi.

The Poshan Abhiyaan, India’s flagship programme, was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March 2018 to reduce stunting, under-nutrition, anemia, low birth weight by 2 to 3 per cent per annum and to intensify awareness generation on the importance of nutrition.

The city has bagged the first position in Excellence Awards at National Level ICDS-CAS Implementation (Rs 1 crore), Overall Excellence in Implementation (Rs 1.5 crore), Field-Level Leadership Awards and the Best Block Level Leadership Awards — certificates and medals. Chandigarh is the first UT in the country to implement real time monitoring of data of beneficiaries of all anganwadi centres.
