Panchkula, June 24

High drama was witnessed at the General Hospital, Sector 6, over post-mortem examination of a Baltana resident, who died on Saturday.

Gautam Dhiman, a resident of Baltana, fell at his residence on Saturday morning. His relatives took him to the General Hospital, where he died. His body was kept at the hospital mortuary.

Dhiman’s family members alleged that on Saturday, doctors told them that post-mortem of the body would be conducted on Sunday. But, when they reached the General Hospital on Sunday, a doctor told them that as deceased was from Baltana they should go to the Dera Bassi hospital for the post-mortem, alleged family members.

Unhappy with delay in post-mortem, family members of the deceased staged a protest on the hospital premises and raised slogans against doctor. They demanded that post-mortem of the deceased should be conducted at the hospital in Panchkula.

The matter was settled when senior doctors and police officials reached the spot. The post-mortem of the deceased was finally conducted at the General Hospital in Panchkula.

Reason behind flare-up

A doctor told relatives of the deceased that his post-mortem examination could not be conducted at the Civil Hospital, Panchkula, as he was a Baltana resident. This prompted family members of the deceased to lodge a protest on the hospital premises.
