Chandigarh, October 12

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has made its intent clear to examine whether a rule or policy is in place for governing the management of temples in the city. Justice Rajan Gupta of the High Court has asked a counsel to elaborate on the issue.

The development took place on a petition filed against the Chandigarh Administration and other respondents by Ashok Kapoor through counsel Ranjan Lakhanpal. The case relates to the election of societies running organisations.

As the case came up for hearing, Justice Gupta put a query to counsel Lakhanpal whether “there is any rule or policy governing the management of various temples in different sectors, which were earmarked at the outset”

In response to Justice Gupta’s query, the counsel prayed for some time to address the Bench on the issue.
