Residents of Sector 70, Mohali, are facing an acute water shortage despite the loud claims of the government of making Mohali a smart city. We have failed to understand what the authorities are doing for the welfare of residents who pay their water bills regularly. Though Mohali witnessed heavy rain on Saturday, there was no water supply till 7.45 pm. In many areas of Mohali, there is no water problem as residents get water from tube wells. Here in Sector 70 also, there is a tube well, but it is non-functional since many years.

Whose fault is this?

This refers to the news report "Dust blankets Punjab, Haryana: Chandigarh airport remains shut" (Chandigarh Tribune, June 16). It was frustrating to learn that all national and international flights from the Chandigarh International Airport remained suspended on Friday too, owing to low visibility due to a blanket of dust haze that covered Punjab and Haryana for the third day in a row. Despite the Chandigarh Airport being re-chrishtened as the Chandigarh International Airport, some of the key infrastructural paraphernalia and various basic passengers-oriented facilities continue to elude it till date. Why the hapless passengers are always being made to bear the brunt of some known 'passivity' on the part of the authorities concerned at this airport?
