Haryana girls face RSPB test in semis

CHANDIGARH:Hockey Haryana will face defending champions Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the 9th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A Division) semifinals in Hisar, Haryana, on Sunday.

Hockey Haryana will face defending champions Railway Sports Promotion Board (RSPB) in the 9th Hockey India Senior Women National Championship (A Division) semifinals in Hisar, Haryana, on Sunday. 

RSPB defeated Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy 7-0, while Haryana registered an 8-3 win over Hockey Jharkhand 8-3 in the quarterfinals.

All eyes will be on the strike-force of the defending champions as they have scored 51 goals in five matches so far. Navneet Kaur is the leading scorer with 10 goals, followed by Vandana Katariya with seven goals. 

Hockey Haryana scored 22 goals en route the semis. Devika Sen being the highest scorer for the side with four goals. 

In the second semifinal, last year’s runners-up Hockey Madhya Pradesh will take on Hockey Maharashtra. 

Hockey Madhya Pradesh made their way through to the semifinals after winning three of their four Pool B matches, and then defeating Hockey Karnataka 1-0 in the quarterfinals.
