Hallmark boys strike gold, silver for girls’ team

Pururaj Birthal, Taj Goel and Sumohit of Hallmark Public School topped the podium in the boys’ U-17 10m air rifle competition on the concluding day of the CBSE North Zone-II Shooting Championship here today. Pururaj also clinched the individual silver.   

Hallmark shooters added one more medal to their tally when the team of Lavya Chadha, Bhoomi Kaul and Rashmeet Kaur finished second in the girls’ U-17 10m air rifle contest.

India shooter Anjum Moudgil, who was the chief guest for the closing ceremony, applauded the young shooters and also revealed her secret of success to them. “Carrying no regrets and consistent hard work helped me the most,” she told the students.  

Earlier, Shaurya Chhabra of Delhi Public School scored 376 points to win the gold medal in the boys’ U-14 air pistol championship, while Abhimanyu Yadav (383) of Yaduvanshi Shiksha Niketan topped the chart in the boys’ U-17 category.

Akhil Kaul (379) of Manav Rachna International School struck the gold in the boys’ U-19 air pistol challenge. Atul Bhardwaj (372) from Army School bagged the silver, while Rishabh Dwivedi (370) of Mind Tree School, Panjokhra (Ambala), secured the bronze medal.

In the girls’ air pistol competition, Tiyana Phogat (376) of DAV Public School dominated the field in the U-14 category, while Tanvi (379) from Vidyantriksh Senior Secondary School bagged the gold in the U-17 contest.
