The Vidya Parvati Memorial Inter-School Competition was held at Gurukul Global School, Mani Majra. The annual event saw 16 tricity schools taking part in various competitions such as mime, qawali singing, madhubani art, classical dancing, hasya kavita, ramp walk etc. The overall winner’s trophy was bagged by Gurukul Global School but handed over to first runners-up — DPS, Chandigarh.

Saint Soldier International, Chandigarh

A 10-day self-defence programme was organised by the Women and Child Safety Unit (WCSU) of the Chandigarh Police for girl students of Classes VIII and IX at Saint Soldier International School, Sector 28, Chandigarh. Everyday warm up exercises followed with different strategies to protect oneself in case of emergency were practiced by the students. They were taught hand and leg attacks, punches, defending the opponent by showing aggression and how to handle the situation with intelligence and patience.

St Xavier’s, P’kula

An interactive session on ‘Distressing anxiety among students and strengthening moral values’ was held at St Xavier’s High School, Sector 20, Panchkula. The session was conducted by Dr Savita Malhotra, senior consultant psychiatrist, Fortis Hospital.

AKSIPS-45, Chandigarh

AKSIPS 45 Smart School, Chandigarh, held its investiture ceremony, to mark the leadership qualities of its budding students. The prefects were given their sashes and badges. Jasdeep Kalra, executive director, AKSIPS Group of Schools, exhorted the newly inducted school cabinet to take up their new responsibilities with enthusiasm, courage and zeal for the betterment and uplift of students and the school.

PML SD Public, Chandigarh

An investiture ceremony was held in ‘Petals’, the primary wing of PML SD Public School. The cabinet members were presented badges and sashes of Captain and Vice-Captain. Abhey Sain and Tanishka were selected Head Boy and Head Girl, respectively.

DC Montessori, Mani Majra

An amazing jungle party for students of Class Prep I was organised by DC Montessori Senior Secondary Smart School at Vatika Garden, Panchkula, where they got a feel of the jungle setting. The students were dressed up in green colour and told about the yummy and healthy food one can find in the eco-friendly environment of a garden.

GSSS-Mani Majra

A one-day cleanliness drive was observed at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Mani Majra Town, Chandigarh. As many as 100 NSS volunteers along with both programme officers Satyender Singh and Shashi took part in the cleanliness drive. A committee was made to monitor the drive and also the class which was found cleanest was awarded by school Principal Ramnik Kaur.

AKSIPS-65, Mohali

AKSIPS-65 School, Mohali, organised a Measles-Mumps-Rubella (MMR) vaccination camp. Students between the age group of 2.5 years and 15 years were vaccinated by Malook Vir Singh Sekhon and his team from the Urban Primary Health Centre, Phase XI, Mohali.

AC National, Zirakpur

Renowned artist Lisa Brickell and her team from New Zealand organised a theater and clowning workshop in AC National Public Senior Secondary School, Zirakpur. Brickell interacted with school students and taught them about body postures, face expressions etc.

St Joseph’s, Chandigarh

St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, Chandigarh, organised a plethora of environment-related activities to develop and enhance the moral sensibilities of students. A special assembly was conducted to promote the idea of ‘Save Water’. The Josephites showed various techniques on water conservation through ‘nukkad natak’.

DAV-8, Chandigarh

DAV Public School, Sector 8, Chandigarh, conducted its investiture ceremony. The student council was inducted as office-bearers to take up the responsibilities as student leaders. They were presented badges and sashes by school Principal Jaskiran Harika.

Gian Jyoti Global School, Mohali

Gian Jyoti Global School, Mohali, in association with the civil dispensary, Phase I, Mohali, organised a vaccination programme against Measles and Rubella on its campus in Phase II, Mohali. Over 400 students got vaccinated under this programme. TNS
