Post Graduate Government College (PGGC), Sector 11, Chandigarh, is as old and as young as the City Beautiful. Its growth continued apace with the progress and expansion of the city.

The college was established on May 26, 1953, in the building which now houses Hotel Mountview in Sector 10. Later, it was shifted to the premises of Government Model Senior Secondary School in Sector 23. It moved to its present building in Sector 11 on October 13, 1960. Since its inception, it has witnessed a steady growth in its infrastructure and enrolment. The college building, which was originally designed by E Maxwell Fry, to accommodate 700 students, now caters to more than 3,272 students with additions to the infrastructure. Its library has a ‘Braille Corner’

“No new courses are being started at the college. Our focus is on providing quality education. We will raise the quality of each course. We have decreased the seats in BA so that we could focus on quality,” said Dr BP Yadav, Principal.
