Mohali, December 1

Various parts of the town have been witnessing long power shutdowns due to the ongoing repair work of grids and feeders.

According to the Punjab State Power Supply Corporation (PSPCL) authorities in Mohali, the repair work of grids and feeders, pruning of trees to save power cables and other such routine works are being carried out to provide uninterrupted power supply to the localites in the coming days.

Gurpreet Singh Sandhu, additional superintending engineer, PSPCL, Mohali, said shutdowns were being imposed as per the department’s schedule. “The town is being catered to by a total of 11 grids having as many as 130 feeders when it comes to power supply. The maintenance works are on these days due to which electricity remains suspended in one part or the other in the town. Our endeavour is to provide uninterrupted power supply to the residents in the coming days,” Sandhu said.

He said scheduled shutdowns had been planned in winters as power load was far less than summers.

Maintenance work in most of the grids has been completed. “The maintenance of only 66 kV grid located in Phase 1 is pending. We will complete the work by mid-December,” Sandhu said and added that for any complaint, the residents could call at 1912 at any time.
