Govt Rajindra Hospital in bad shape, says Mohindra

Health Minister Brahm Mohindra admitted that the Government Rajindra Hospital in city has lost its glory. He said he didn’t got any good report about the hospital in past one year.

Mohindra, who was at the Mata Kaushlya Hospital, Patiala, to inaugurate statewide ‘Anti-diarrhoea’ campaign said, “In the past, people from other states used to come for treatment at the Rajindra Hospital, but things have changed.” 

He said the government had allocated Rs 100 crore to upgrade the Rajindra Hospital last year. 

A senior official at the hospital said not a single penny has been spent on infrastructure in past 11 years. The official said, “The heritage building of the hospital needs a regular maintenance. At present the building, is in a dilapidated condition and needs an immediate repair.” 

Principal Government Rajindra Hospital BS Sidhu said, “The Hospital was allocated Rs 115 crore in the current financial year but till date, we have not received any funds.”

Sidhu further said, “The hospital building is in poor condition and needs an immediate overhauling. Infrastructure will be our priority when we will receive the funds.”
