All government offices in the district wore a deserted look as employees belonging to the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union are on a pen-down strike from February 13. As the government failed to address their grievances, people were the worst hit.

Talking to mediapersons here today, people lashed out at the government as well as the employees. RN Sharma, president, Citizen’s Welfare Council, said the strike was causing inconvenience to the public. He sought government intervention to resolve the matter.

Interestingly, when the new DC took a round of the offices, they employees occupied their seats, leaving the protest.

Satnam Bhardwaj, district president of the Punjab State Ministerial Services Union, alleged that the government was not sincere towards their genuine demands. He said they would boycott the election work if the government did not accept their demands.
