GMSSS-35 sluggers in final

CHANDIGARH:Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 35, will face GMSSS, Sector 10, in the inter-school boys’ U-17 baseball final here tomorrow.

Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 35, will face GMSSS, Sector 10, in the inter-school boys’ U-17 baseball final here tomorrow. 

In the semifinals today, GMSSS, Sector 35, beat GMSSS, Behlana, 4-0 while GMSSS, Sector 10, registered a 1-0 win over GMSSS, Sector 15, 1-0.        

In the boys’ U-14 quarterfinals, GMSSS, Sector 35, trounced GMSSS, Behlana, 7-1, while Ryan International School, Sector 49, defeated GMSSS, Sector 10, 3-0. Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 11, blanked GMSSS, Sector 39, 2-0. 

In the last quarterfinal match, GMSSS, Sector 15, beat St Anne’s School, Sector 32, 4-0.

Meanwhile, in the girls’ U-15 competition, GMSSS, Sector 15, moved into the semifinals with a 5-0 win over GMSSS, Sector 35. Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, edged out St Anne’s School, Sector 32, 5-1 in the quarterfinals.

GMHS-26 spikers triumph

In the inter-school volleyball championship, GMHS, Sector 26, won the boys’ U-14 title after defeating GMHS, Sector 34, 22-25 25-15 25-6 26-24 in the final.

Tender Heart School, Sector 33, finished third. They beat St Soldier International School, Sector 28, 25-19 22-25 25-23 25-17 in the playoff. 

The girls’ U-14 title went to GMHS, Sector 34. They beat GMHS, Sector 26, 22-25 25-20 25-17 25-19 in the final. 

Government High School, Sector 50, defeated Guru Nanak Khalsa Senior Secondary School, Sector 30, 25-15 25-10 25-14 to claim the third position.

Strawberry boys on top

Strawberry Fields High School, Sector 26, beat Ryan International School to win the inter-school boys’ U-19 chess championship. Gurukul Global School, Mani Majra, humbled Delhi Public School, Sector 40, to occupy the third spot.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Strawberry Fields got the better of Delhi Public School, while Ryan International prevailed over Gurukul Global. 

Meanwhile, in the girls’ U-17 second round, Carmel Convent School, Sector 9, defeated DAV Public School, Sector 8, while Tender Heart School, Sector 33, stunned GMSSS, Sector 35. GMSSS, Mani Majra Housing Complex, humbled St Marry School, Sector 46, and St Kabir School, Sector 26, defeated New Public School, Sector 18.

St Joseph’s boys win

St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, defeated St Soldier School by seven wickets in a low scoring boys’ U-14 inter-school cricket match here today.

Batting first, St Soldier scored 49/7 in 20 overs. Vivek Bhatia claimed 2/12, while Ishan Gaba (1/7) and Timin Sharma (1/11) took a wicket each for St Joseph’s. 

In reply, St Joseph’s reached home with seven wickets to spare.
