Girl students to pay more for stay at Hostel No. 10

Research scholars in girls’ Hostel No. 10, which is near completion, will get rooms with attached washrooms.

The rooms will be allotted for 2018-19 session. The Syndicate will take a final call on fee structure of the new hostel on February 24.

There are two types of rooms in Hostel No. 10 with common and attached washrooms. As per a committee to decide the hostel fees, for rooms with common washroom, the charges will be Rs 200 per month while for those with attached washrooms it will be Rs 500 per month. 

The power charges will be Rs 500 per month and development fund will be Rs 1,000 per month for rooms with common washrooms.

For rooms with attached washrooms the power charges will be Rs 700 per month and development fund will be Rs 2,000 per month.

The water bill, celebration fund and lift charges will be Rs 100 each per month and establishment charges will be charged at Rs 1,000 per month for both kind of rooms.

But routine hostel maintenance charges will be Rs 500 per month for rooms with common washrooms and Rs 1,000 per month for rooms with attached washrooms.

The students who get admission under the PM Special Scholarship Scheme for Jammu and Kashmir will be given accommodation in the hostels on sharing basis. They will be charged the same rental as is being charged from the research scholars who are paying their house rent to the hostels at Rs 5,000 per month.

There is marginal hike in hostel fees for session starting 2018-19. The total cost with lift charges will be now Rs 6,330 per semester while earlier it was Rs 5,980 per semester. The charges without lift charges will now be Rs 6,030 per semester while earlier it was Rs 5,680 per semester.

There is no change in rent, water charges which will be Rs 360 per semester each.

The power charges have been hiked by Rs 100 at Rs 2,500 per semester. The celebration fund has been hiked by Rs 100 per semester, which will be now Rs 350 per semester. At International Hostel, the power charges and facilities charges have been hiked by Rs 500 per month and now they both will cost Rs 3,000 each per month.

PhD students can now keep the hostel for four years on normal rent and after that it will be considered as overstay and Rs 80 per day will be charged.
