Gang rape: Two get 20 years in jail

CHANDIGARH: The local court today granted 20-year imprisonment to two persons who were held guilty in a case of kidnapping and gang rape of a 14-year-old girl.

The local court today granted 20-year imprisonment to two persons who were held guilty in a case of kidnapping and gang rape of a 14-year-old girl. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.20 lakh each. The court also directed that out of the total fine Rs 1.20 lakh should be given to the victim as compensation.

While the two accused were convicted the trial of the third accused in the case who is a juvenile, is going on.

The case dates back to November 2015, when the victim was kidnapped by one of the accused, Sant Ram, who kidnapped the girl from near her house. The other two accused Sukhbir and a juvenile also came and the trio took the victim to the forest area in Colony No, 5 and gang raped her. The victim was later dropped in Sector 50. The victim had then narrated the incident to the family after hich a case was registered.
