Gang of drug peddlers busted; Nigerians, two others arrested

The district police claimed to have busted a gang of drug peddlers with the arrest of four persons, including two Nigerians, from Delhi. The police recovered 170-gm heroin from them.

The accused have been identified as Abdul Majid, Mohamad Ismail, residents of Maler Kotla and Nigerians Ima and Inosat.

The police said they were involved in the sale of synthetic drugs in the area. Addressing the media, SSP Alka Meena said during an awareness campaign against the drug abuse, Buga Kalan police post head Baljinder Singh got a tip-off about some drug peddlers. Following which, a naka was laid and Abdul Majid and Mohamad Ismail were arrested with heroin while they were going to deliver a consignment.

She said during the interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to bring heroin from Delhi and sell it in the area. The SSP said Amloh DSP Manpreet Singh was assigned the job to nab other members of the gang. A team, led by Manpreet Singh and Amloh SHO Kuljit Singh, along with two arrested peddlers, raided a house situated in Uttam Nagar, Delhi, and arrested Ima and Inosat with 70-gm heroin.

The SSP said they were brought to Amloh and the four were presented in a local court which remanded them in four-day police custody.

She called upon the residents to come forward with the information about drug peddlers.
