Mohali, August 26

High drama was witnessed at a liquor vend in Sector 69, Mohali, when residents of Kumbhra village tied their livestock outside the shop against its reopening.

Residents had forcibly closed the liquor vend on Friday. They had alleged that the liquor vend was located just opposite a private hospital and a school. Today, the contractor with the help of the GMADA and Excise Department managed to ropen the liquor vend. As a result, some residents of Sector 68 and 69 assembled protested at the spot and tied their cattle in front of the liquor vend.

Gurmeet Singh Kumbhra, a resident, said liquor vend has been set up at a wrong place. “It makes bad impression on school going students and relatives of patients, who visit hospital. The vend should be immediately shifted from here. Else, we will intensify our protest,” he said.
