Four minor girls went missing under mysterious circumstances at Mataur village yesterday. According to police sources, the minors include two 14-year-old schoolgirls, a 13-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl. The police said the girls were residents of the same complex at Mataur village and were known to each other.

Sources said the girls went missing on Thursday afternoon. A case has been registered against unknown person(s) under Sections 363 and 366-A of the IPC.

The investigating officer said: “Out of the four girls, two study at a government school and others work as domestic help. A case was registered on the complaint of their family members today. Photographs of the missing girls have been sent to police stations to trace them.”

Inspector Jarnail Singh, SHO, Mataur police station, said they were investigating the case from all angles, including elopement.

“According to preliminary investigation, two girls were accompanied by their alleged boyfriends. We are checking their phone call records in the probe,” said the SHO.
