FOSWAC members meet ADC, discuss their problems

Members of the Federation of Sectors Welfare Association (FOSWAC) raised various issues before Additional Deputy Commissioner Sachin Rana in a meeting held at the Community Centre in Sector 18, Chandigarh, on Saturday. 

Rana attended the meeting to listen to the grievances and suggestions made by various associations. Baljinder Singh Bittu, Chairman of the FOSWAC, raised the issue of the drug menace prevailing in the city.

He said the city was facing water supply problem and in several areas, muddy water was being supplied to residents for drinking.

He said the garbage plant in Dadu Majra is a serious threat to the health of those living in the vicinity, as it could cause serious respiratory problems.

The association has been taking up the matter with the authorities concerned, but to no avail. He was of the view that the collector rates are higher many folds than the actual price of the land. It should be brought down to a reasonable level. 

 Pardeep Chopra, Secretary, Sector 21 RWA, highlighted the menace of encroachment in corridors/ verandas of markets. 

KS Panchhi stressed the need for the implementation of the vendors’ Act, which has been pending for several years. Dr OP Verma, president of the Sector 20 RWA, said several unauthorised dhabas were operating in Sector 20, chocking the sewerage system and causing foul smell in the area.
