Chandigarh, August 13

A large number of tricity residents today participated in the ‘Run for a Runner’ — an event organised by the Chandigarh Distance Runners to raise funds for marathon runner Deepak Muduli, who is undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital following an accident.

During the event, which started around 5.30 am near Sukhna Lake, people participated in the 5 km and 10 km run.

Master athlete Mann Kaur was also a part of the event. While the 101-year-old flagged off the 10km run, she participated in the 5km run and ran for nearly 100m.

The ‘Run for a Runner’ campaign was initiated by Indirapuram Runners to support Muduli’s medical expenses. The group with the help of local runner groups is organising similar events across the country to raise funds for bed-ridden athlete.

During today’s event, the group was able to raise Rs 2.60 lakh.

Chandigarh Distance Runners thanked the people of tricity for their participation in the event and contributing towards the welfare of Muduli.

The run was also supported by various local groups apart from The British School.

Muduli, who is an IT professional and a member of the Indirapuram Runners, met with an accident on March 2 while driving with his colleagues on the Greater Noida expressway.
