Five Rajindra Hospital doctors bag executive posts of PAFMAT

PATIALA:Five doctors of the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology of Government Medical College & Rajindra Hospital Patiala have bagged all major executive body posts of Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology (PAFMAT) - for the second successive term.

Five doctors of the Department of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology of Government Medical College & Rajindra Hospital Patiala have bagged all major executive body posts of Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology (PAFMAT) - for the second successive term. 

The Punjab Academy of Forensic Medicine & Toxicology, is a body of forensic medicine and toxicology experts of the state. In the 17th annual conference and meeting of the general house of the academy held at Government Medical College Chandigarh, Dr DS Bhullar, associate professor and acting head of the department was elected president of the academy unopposed for the fourth term. 

The other forensic experts of the department include Dr Akashdeep Aggarwal as General Secretary, Dr Didar Singh Walia as joint secretary, Dr Preetinder Singh Chahal and Dr Satinderpal Singh as joint editor. 

Former the principal of the college Dr KK Aggarwal and Former Head of the department Dr. OP Aggarwal have been nominated as advisors of the academy for the next two years. 

The agenda of the new team includes the opening of One-Stop Examination, Care and Counselling Centers in state medical colleges for the sexual assault victims, update of the State Chemical Laboratory to speed up the pendency of the chemical examination reports in the interest of justice, recognition to the subject of environmental toxicology, creation of posts of forensic medicine experts in district-level hospitals, the constitution of State Medico-Legal Advisory Committee and starting of Certificate Course in Forensic Medicine for Medical officers working in the field, said Bhullar.
