Five members of a family in Madanwala in Pinjore suffered burn injuries after the LPG cylinder in their kitchen caught fire on Friday morning.

Momi Lal (44) suffered 30 to 35 per cent burn injuries and was referred to the PGI. His wife and three children were also injured in the incident.

Pinjore police station SHO Mukesh Kumar said the migrant family was residing in a rented accommodation in Pinjore. Sunita (38) was boiling water when it spilled over the gas burner and doused it, leaving the gas on. After around 10 minutes, without realising that the gas was, she again lit the matchstick causing a blast.

Hearing the sound of the blast, neighbours rushed to the room and found Momi Lal, Sunita and their children injured. They informed the police and took them to the Civil Hospital.

The police said other members of the family were out of danger.
