Five juveniles among 6 held for thefts in city

Six persons, including five juveniles, have been arrested by the local police for thefts. The police claimed to have solved nine cases with their arrest. A team, led by Inspector Rajdeep Singh, SHO of the Sector 31 police station, nabbed the thieves — juveniles and a 25-year-old youth identified as Puneet Goyal, a resident of Zirakpur.

The police said they had a tip-off that members of the gang, which had committed a theft at Plot No. 913 A, Industrial Area, Phase 2, were present at Ram Darbar.

The police conducted a raid and nabbed all suspects along with the stolen property.

During their interrogation, the police found that they had committed several other thefts in the area. The police said in February, they had stolen Rs 60,000 from a donation box. They were also involved in battery thefts and motorcycle thefts. 

 The police said Goyal was a scrap dealer. He was also a drug addict. The juveniles, residents of Ram Darbar, Hallo Majra and Mauli Jagran, were produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to Juvenile Home, Sector 25.
