Five trainees of the Chandigarh Hockey Academy (CHA) have been included in the 30-member core group for the Indian junior men’s team.

Sanjay, Sukhman Singh, Maninder Singh, Arshdeep Singh and Amandeep Singh, all 18 years old, have been shortlisted after a training camp for 60 players. The selected five will now attend a coaching camp at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) centre in Bengaluru from May 13 to June 4. They have been training under the guidance of CHA coach Gurminder Singh. “All these players were earlier a part of the Khelo India core group and then made it to the 60-member Group in January. On Tuesday, we were informed that they have been further shortlisted into the 30-member group. It’s a big opportunity for all of them. Also, there is a strong possibility of their selection into the Indian junior team,” said Gurminder Singh.
