A rift within the local Congress unit widened after a message went viral on the social media that Pradeep Chhabra, president, Chandigarh Congress, would be resigning tomorrow. The message on various WhatsApp groups has evoked strong reaction from various leaders.
Meanwhile, Chhabra posted another message saying that he would not resign. He said he would continue to serve on the post till the party high command asks him to do so.
Defeat of former Union Minister and Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls has widened fissure in the Chandigarh Congress.
A section of senior leaders has demand removal of Chhabra from the post of president. They also sought an immediate meeting to look at causes of the defeat. — TNS
