Nabha, June 4

Members of the BKU are trying to identifying routes being used by marginal farmers to sell their produce to intensify their agitation.

The marginal farm dairy owners are suffering in this agitation as their regular customers are being affected due to unavailability of milk.

To avoid any confrontation with the dairy owners in the Nabha, the protesting farmers’ union had set up nakas on the outskirts of the city for the past three days to cut-off the dairy supply in city.

A small scale dairy owner, Manjeet Singh from Thuhi village, said, he had adopted the dairy business on a small scale about an year ago. He said for the first three days he somehow managed to reach the city after the dodging the union members but now as the union has blocked all routes and he was unable to supply the milk. He said now he has requested his consumers to collect the milk from his house.

Onkar Singh Agole, General Secretary BKU Rajewal, said, the farmers have agreed to bring vegetables to the nakas set up by the union on the outskirts. He said the farmers were selling the produce at the production cost so that both the farmers and the consumers could benefit.
