The two-day workshop on ‘Knowledge sharing and capacity-building for NCAP knowledge network in the Indo-Gangetic plain states’ began here today.

Participants from various educational institutes, pollution control boards of different states are attendeding the workshop, which has been organised by the World Bank, Department of Environment Studies, PU, and the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER.

Knowledge on relevant AQM practices and technologies that have enabled other countries to tackle their challenge of air pollution would also be shared as part of the training programme. Dr SS Marwaha, Chairman of the Punjab Pollution Control Board, laid emphasis on the necessity to identify solutions of working across states. Dabinder Dalai, IFS, Director, Environment, Chandigarh Administration, highlighted the need for addressing air quality issues by engaging academicians, and research scholars and relevant stakeholders to identify sustainable solutions. Karin Shepardson, Lead Environment Specialist, World Bank, mentioned that they are committed to strengthening knowledge exchange.
